Resources For Multilingual Writers

We have several tutors who specialize in teaching writing to students whose first or strongest language is other than English. For the best possible assistance, please make appointments using our ESL Writing Help schedule at our free tutoring portal

Canvas Site for All Multilingual Students

For undergraduate and graduate students whose first or strongest language is other than English, a new Canvas site (created in Spring 2022) houses a collection of resources and information about upcoming workshops and more. Enroll yourself in the site, Resources for Multilingual Writers, at https://utk.instructure.com/enroll/FTABWR.

Undergraduate Students

See this page for information about how to make and attend appointments.

For students in English 121: Your instructor’s office hours should be your first and most regular source of help. To ensure you receive the most helpful assistance outside of your teacher’s office hours, you must only work with our specialist tutors in our ESL Writing Help schedule. Please do not make appointments using any other schedule; click here for our English 121 appointment instructions.

Graduate Students

See Resources for Multilingual Graduate Students for workshops and other resources designed for graduate student writers.

We maintain a list of people who edit theses and dissertations on a private, fee basis. Use this Request for Freelance Editing form to request that service, or email writingcenter@utk.edu for more information.
