How to use the “Add to Calendar” feature

You can import Assignment Planner steps into your calendar using your computer. 

Import an .ics file into Google Calendar

  1. Click to download the desired .ics file (the .ics file for all steps OR the .ics file for one particular step).
  2. Open Google Calendar on your computer. 
  3. In the top right, from the Settings menu , click Settings.
  4. In the menu on the left, click Import & Export.
  5. Click Select File from your computer and select the Assignment planner .ics file you exported. should end in “.ics.”
    • If you downloaded the .ics for all steps, the file will have the same name as the assignment, such as “Literature Review.”
    • If you downloaded the .ics for one particular step, the file name will also include the step name; for example: “Literature Review-Revise.”
  6. If you have more than one Google account, you’ll need to choose which to add the imported events to.
    • By default, events are imported into your primary calendar.
  7. Click Import.

Import an .ics file into Outlook

  1. Click to download the desired .ics file (the .ics file for all steps OR the .ics file for one particular step).
  2. In Outlook, select your file.
    • If you downloaded the .ics for all steps, the file will have the same name as the assignment, such as “Literature Review.”
    • If you downloaded the .ics for one particular step, the file name will also include the step name; for example: “Literature Review-Revise.”
  3. In Outlook, select Open & Export > Import/Export.
  4. In the Import and Export Wizard box, select Import an iCalendar (.ics), and then Next. 
  5. Select the calendar file from your computer and select OK.
  6. Select Open as New. The items are automatically imported into your calendar.
