The Judith Anderson Herbert Writing Center and The Graduate School have partnered to support graduate student writers during the 2026 Winter Mini-Term.
Quiet Writing Space
On January 5-16 from 9:00am-4:00pm each day, the Judith Anderson Herbert Writing Center (JAHWC) in HSS 212 will be open as a quiet writing space for graduate students to work comfortably and productively in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Free snacks and drinks will be available. For information about the location, review UT’s campus map.
Writing Consultations
The JAHWC’s Professional Writing Consultants will be available for one-on-one consultations with graduate student writers between January 5-16. Consultations will be offered online through our appointment scheduler, WCOnline, (https://UTK.MYWConline.com), and in-person in HSS 212.
The Graduate School requires all theses and dissertations to be properly formatted before being accepted into TRACE. Abby Sherman, the Coordinator of Student Services for the Graduate School, will be available for one-to-one consultations on January 7 from 10:00-11:00am and January 14 from 1:00-2:00pm in HSS 212 to assist with any questions about formatting and deadlines for submission.
- More information about proper TRACE formatting may be found at The Graduate School’s Preparing Your Work page.
“Steps to Graduation” Consultations
On January 7 from 10:00-11:00am and January 14 from 1:00-2:00pm, Graduation Specialist Julie Harden will offer drop-in hours in HSS 212 to discuss all important forms and deadlines for both master’s and doctoral degrees.
- More information about the Graduate School’s forms and deadlines may be found at The Graduate School’s Forms Central.
