  • *You can only receive writing consultation credit for attending 2 workshops ONCE. That means, in addition to attending 2 workshops, you must complete 3 writing consultations to receive credit for ENGL 103/104.

Locate Primary and Secondary Sources

Wednesday, February 4
HSS 212, 1-2pm

In this workshop, FYC Librarian Erin Whitaker will take you on a deep dive into UT’s digital databases. You’ll learn more about library resources, become more efficient in your queries, and discover how to locate primary and secondary sources for research.

Analyze Primary Sources

Wednesday, February 18
HSS 212, 1-2pm

As researchers, we often examine artifacts and documents to better understand their historical context. In this workshop, we will define primary sources and discuss strategies for how you can critically evaluate and interpret them.

Integrate Secondary Sources

Wednesday, March 4
HSS 212, 1-2pm

Sustaining a solid argument requires external sources, but how do you seamlessly integrate them into your writing? This workshop will explore that question as we discuss the reasons for using evidence and the possible ways to incorporate outside information into your text.

Navigate Information Literacy and Technology

Wednesday, March 25
HSS 212, 1-2pm

In our digital world, it can be increasingly difficult to determine if information is accurate and credible. That’s why in this workshop, FYC Librarian Erin Whitaker will walk you through the basics of information literacy, share digital reference materials, and show you how to assess LLM-generated output for validity.

Cultivate Flow in Your Writing

Wednesday, April 8
HSS 212, 1-2pm

They say good writing “flows”–but what exactly does that mean? In this workshop, we’ll define “flow” and practice using various techniques. Attendees will be given access to an online learning module so they can practice “flow” on their own.
