Summer Writing Academies 2024

This July, the Judith Anderson Herbert Writing Center at the University of Tennessee is offering a week of “Summer Writing Academies” — engaging, creative, and FREE sessions with hands-on writing activities for rising 10th-, 11th-, and 12th-graders from Knox County high schools.


Program Details

Dates: July 8-July 12

Times: 9:00am-12:00pm, Monday-Friday (one session per day)

Location: UT Conference Center, 600 Henley St., Knoxville, TN, 37902

Cost: Free

Deadline to apply: Deadline was Monday June 24, 2024

Who can apply: Rising 10th-, 11th-, and 12th-graders from Knox County high schools are invited to participate. Each workshop is capped at a maximum of 15 students. Students may apply to one or all five workshops. Two staff members from the Herbert Writing Center will be present at each session.

NOTE TO PARENTS AND GUARDIANS: A parent or legal guardian of rising 10th-, 11th-, and 12th-grade Knox County Schools students must complete and sign the application, which is due by Monday, June 24, 2024.
